About Winter Rule

Winter Rule is delighted to have merged with Francis Clark. As of 1 August 2011 Winter Rule LLP ceased to exist and the Winter Rule office in Truro effectively became the Cornwall office of Francis Clark LLP. The firm now trades in Cornwall as Francis Clark with Winter Rule.

As the largest independent accountancy firm in Cornwall, Winter Rule had nearly 100 team members based in its Truro office, which now becomes one of the largest of the 7 Francis Clark offices along with Exeter and Torquay.

With a reputation based on meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations Winter Rule shared a strong synergy with Francis Clark particularly in their culture, ethos and work ethic. The ethos of the two firms and the approach to client service and care have been virtually identical.

Perhaps more importantly, the types of client Winter Rule acted for are identical to Francis Clark, from individuals wanting help with their tax returns, right up to multi million pound turnover groups.

Winter Rule was able to trace its roots back to the 1920’s but had constantly evolved on firm foundations to provide proactive, cost effective and accurate advice to its clients.

Winter Rule had a particularly strong reputation for advising the legal profession, medical practitioners, farmers, tourism businesses and charities. They also had a strong reputation for dealing with personal tax matters. By sharing the resources of the two firms we are able to further enhance our client offering in these and other specialist sectors.

For the newly combined firm, the addition of the Truro office will allow Francis Clark to better serve its existing clients in Cornwall.

The combined resources of the new firm will also mean we are able to offer increased training and development opportunities for all our staff, ensuring that we continue to attract and retain the best local talent.
