Winter Rule appoints new partner and three directors

Winter Rule has announced the appointment of a new partner and three new operational directors as part of its continued commitment to staff development and client service.

The Truro-based firm, which is the largest practice of chartered accountants and business advisers in Cornwall, has invited Tom Roach to become its ninth partner from July 1.

Tom, who is an audit manager specialising in tourism and manufacturing clients, first joined Winter Rule as a trainee in 1996 and qualified in 2000.

Winter Rule has also appointed three of its management team as operational directors. They are David West and Richard Wadman from the corporate team, and small business manager Mark Hastings.

David, who specialises in corporate auditing and reporting, joined Winter Rule as an audit manager in 1993, while Richard, who has been with the firm since 1999, specialises in corporate finance. Mark joined Winter Rule in 1987 and advises SMEs in a variety of sectors.

Winter Rule chairman John Mitchell said: “Having first taken on Tom as a trainee we’re delighted to be welcoming him to the Winter Rule partnership and the operational director appointments are all well deserved.

“Tom, David, Richard and Mark have more than 60 years’ experience with Winter Rule between them and it’s that level of commitment and expertise that our clients across the region value so highly.”

Later this year Winter Rule will relocate to new purpose-built offices on Tregolls Road in Truro. Scaffolding around the three-storey, environmentally-friendly building has recently been removed while the internal fit-out continues.

The new building offers double the floorspace of Winter Rule’s previous office on the same site and allows the firm to cater for future growth.
