Our Corporate Finance team was established with the aim of providing a dedicated local resource to businesses in the South West looking to enter into a transaction or finance raising exercise. The skills developed by the team in achieving these aims have led to expertise being developed in business acquisitions, sales, valuations, financial projections and other related services.

Selling or purchasing a business can be very stressful for both purchasers and vendors. A vendor is often parting with a life’s work and purchasers will wish that appropriate due dilligence is carried out to protect their investment and that of their funders.

We are experienced in managing this process to reduce the burdens of co-ordinating the various professionals involved in a transaction.

Valuation work is also a particular strength within the team and we prepare a significant number of business valuations for various reasons, whether motivated by potential sale, for tax purposes, for inheritance tax purposes or as part of a matrimonial dispute.

The raising of finance has become a key part of the work undertaken by the team whether by way of grants, equity or debt finance. Often the start of this can be helping with the preparation of a business plan to support the finance application and we then assist with all aspects of the application from submission to the final agreement of terms with the funder.

Maintaining close links with funders is a key part of the work that we undertake in raising finance for clients. Even as professionals working in the field it is challenging for us to keep up with the numerous public and private sector organisations providing sources of finance and so by approaching us, businesses can save valuable time in highlighting the most appropriate organisations to target.
